Always a popular venue, it has been expanded for 2009, now with an outdoor stage at sister-venue the Pear Tree, and two improved spaces upstairs at the Counting House. Open from 11am to 2am daily, the complex includes three bars, a huge outdoor courtyard and three performance spaces featuring an amazing 53 different free shows - Comedy, Theatre, Music, Childrens shows and more - and it's located minutes from the Teviot venues - Udderbelly, Pleasance Dome and Gilded Balloon. |

In the Hillside area of Edinburgh, Renroc is located just off of Leith Walk, near the junction with London Road, and is very close to the Playhouse Theatre and Jongluers - and also nearby to other Free Festival venues: The Edinburgh City Football Club, The Outhouse and The Newsroom. The venue is intimate and stylish, and also home to a complementary medicine and alternative health centre. There are a wide variety of drinks, meals and food available right through the day, and free shows from the afternoon until late night.

There are free shows here daily from lumchtime until Midnight. |

There are free shows here daily from midday until around 9.30pm, when the nightclub takes over until 5am. |

Located at the junction of Leith Street and Princes street, the Newsroom is another central venue, seconds from Waverley, North Bridge and the half-price ticket hut. It's open from breakfast from 9am, right the way through until late night shows and dancing at 2am. This is the first year of free shows at this venue, which run all day from 11.15am until 1.30am |

The Outhouse is located in the area at the top of Leith Walk, moments from Jongleurs, The Playhouse Theatre and The Stand. With a modern and stylish bar, the venue offers a wide selection of drinks and also has a large and secluded beer garden for enjoying the summer weather. Performances are held of free show upstairs in the Loft from midday until 7pm, with a paid music show running every night in the evenings. |

| This is St Martin's 5th annual Exhibition during the Fringe, and the first time it has been included as part of the Free Festival Programme. St Martin's is a church that is rooted in it's neighbourhood: flanked by the tenements of Georgie and Dalry, a 30 minute walk from the centre of Edinburgh or a short bus ride on busses 2, 3, 4, 23, 33 or 44, located on Dalry Road to the south west of the city centre. |
