FRINGE 2008 3 - 25 AUGUST
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is officially the largest arts festival in the world. In 2007 hundreds of groups participated putting on 2,050 different shows with a total of 31,000 performances in 250 venues.
WHERE TO START...
Anyone can perform at the Fringe as it's an open arts festival. The Festival Fringe Society (commonly known as the Fringe Office) does not produce any of the shows, does not invite anybody to perform and pays no fees to performers. We do, however, help you every step of the way. Click here to get started.
SUBSCRIBE
By subscribing as a performer on edfringe.com you will receive our monthly email bulletins which tell you about venues, how to get in the the Fringe Programme and what to do and when. Subscribing also gives you access to the performers area of the website. There you'll find detailed information on everything you need to know, including a list of all the venues, how to ensure you have the correct copyright, where to find the appropriate tax forms and advice on marketing and publicity. Click here to subscribe.

It's 22 years since the Gilded Balloon started presenting shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe! We
started with just 7 shows in one wee studio theatre in Edinburgh's
Cowgate and now we're close to 100 shows in 9 venues at Teviot Row
House. 2007 was fantastic and this year our programme is bigger, better
and even more diverse! Please click here for details of the Gilded Balloon Programme Keep up to date with all that's happening at the Gilded Balloon! For all the latest news, special offers and competitions, sign-up to receive regular email upodates. Whether
it be raw comedy, or the best and wildest in live music and stand up,
then the Gilded Balloon has something to keep you up into the wee small
hours with our exciting late night fringe shows.
Want to get the inside track on what it’s like to perform at the
Edinburgh Festival Fringe? Want to experience the giddy heights of
having a sell-out, 5 star show or the painful lows of performing to one
man and his dog? To see LAST year's fringe performers' diaries, please click here
Throughout the Fringe, The Gilded Balloon will be running a new
competition, giving website visitors the opportunity to win tickets to
a variety of our shows.
Starting this August for ten years, an annual award will be presented
at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival “for comic originality of thought or
performance” - THE MALCOLM HARDEE AWARD is in memory of “one of the
most anarchic figures of his era” - “the greatest influence on British
comedy over the last 25 years” and the “godfather to a generation of
comic talent". Richard Sandling won, and we all danced and were merry... Richard Sandling is officially funny! So we think so.
For the last 18 years, So You Think You're Funny? has been the launch
pad for some of the biggest names in comedy including Peter Kay, Ed
Byrne and Rhona Cameron. This year, the pick of previous winners and
runners up will be returning to where it all began. For details of who's performing and to book tickets, click here Over the years, the Gilded Balloon has brought many award winning shows to the Edinburgh Fringe. 2007 was no exception.
