PRESS RELEASE
SHAKESPEARE meets JAPANESE SUBCULTURE
Death of a Samurai
Shakespeare, the great playwright in Britain,
and the world of MANGA, Japan is proud before the whole world joined in “Death of a Samurai”
«Story»
Once upon a time, in the future…
The world, a hundred years after the great flood.
It was a world like Japan when Samurai existed.
The dark age when people living in the civil war-chaos.
A girl and her guardian werewolf lived in the deep forest.
They were running away from the enemies aiming at her special power.
She could give immortality to whom she kissed in exchange for her own life.
This is a love story of the girl and her power, and people around her with desperate killing.
«Writer&Director Sasaki Tomohiro»
“When meeting something tremendous, beyond our imagination, we are moved, feel powerful emotion, tense up and began to smile, cry or get angry. So, I think that getting excited and being deeply moved is indispensable for us to live our life. No one can live without feeling strong emotion and tension.
I’m sure that it is a mission of entertainment to give such a special experience to the world. And that is what I desire to achieve through my work. “Death of a Samurai” is sure to be the work like that.”

Stephanie Ridings sits fully composed in a chair with a table beside her. She is applying eye make up and seems to have been doing so for many an hour. The look is of course the Dusty Springfield look. The heavy black liner and dark brown greenish eye shadow look to get this right the applications are repeated and take longer than cooking a three course meal. In between newly applied brush strokes and carefully engineered fine thin black eye pencil lines she talks of her mother. Her mother is a Dusty Springfiled look a like and her daughter who is one woman played by Stephanie Riggs is the illegitimate child of the Dusty Look alike. Her mother has a friend called Tom Jones not the real singing Tom Jones but a chancer alcoholic Tom Jones who sleeps with the mother and seems to make her unhappy as the daughter talks of very uncomfortable breakfasts with him which include no food on his part as he stands there swaying with beer in hand quizzing her about her school uniform. Dusty's daughter is angry and unhappy and the hour play is quite brilliant. You get such a good insight into the plight of being the daughter of a mother who so wanted to be someone and only managed to look like someone well that someone was luckily Dusty Springfield thats not a bad person to look like it could have been much worse. However she didnt quite look enough like her to come first in the look alike competition. She lost out and came second. This plight took its toll on the Dusty look alike and alcohol controlled her life and as it seems her daughters too who is now on stage drinking vodka and applying make up and preparing to sing a Dusty song at her mothers funeral. Actually Stephanie herself who plays the daughter does a pretty good job of looking like Dusty herself and when she sings the song is fantastic and ends the fully energized, wonderfully acted show.'... Pyjama Men: The Last Stand To Reason, on at Assemby 7.25pm 6th to 30th August, 2009
'I went to see Pajama Men on Friday 21st August at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The house was totally packed, unfortunately I arrived three minutes late, I slipped in quietly and two eyes on the stage transfixed me. The actors ushered me with their beedy eyes to the nearly only available seat at the end of the front row. Once I was seated they smiled and got on with their pyjama conversations. They both sit in two seats. Two men from America. New York. Their jokes are about being gay and silly and energetic however it is never not for one minute annoying humour that one would normally cringe at. Its amazing and hysterical as one man eyes the other up and he screams back oh my god you are getting me so pregnant. The jokes are so original and totally first hand, never heard before to my delight. Then two unfortunate members of the audience leave for what ever reason and as they try and slip out of the side door they do not get the same friendly reception I got in being a touch late as they quietly manouever through the crowded theatre hoping to go unnoticed the gays scream whats wrong is this too gay for you both. And one of them goes to the door where the early leavers left through and shouts after them "well you werent very funny yourself". What a delightful hour I have had watching these two men who mime as brilliantly as they act as they make the audience scream with laughter nearly to pant wetting hysteria.....five plus Star reveiw .'.... I saw Greg Brehrendt tonight. Gred was a well built medium hight not totally sexy man, however that was not his purpose. Greg was interesting and consistent, confident, funny and quick witted. When Greg talks about his book 'He's Just Not That Into You', Greg says that women always ask him really tedious questions that actually need no answer. He failed to add that the real reason these women ask these questions, including myself is because we all want reassurance, for someone to listen and give us an answer. Whatever answer they give us, when we are in the love bug mood, which as Shakespeare quite rightly said, is the strongest drug known to man. Stronger than anything, it can make you go crazy, so when in this craze, and ones love is in doubt or not being adequately met, one blurbs out to anyone …..what shall I do?.... and then it gives you an excuse to do what the person you have picked tells you to do, because in that state of mind, you will do what ever anyone tells you. However, sometimes you might make the mistake and ask a nasty person. I loved him saying he was 'anal and forgetfull'. He likes everything to be in place, but he forgets where he puts it. And that is anal and forgetful in one bag. I personally think that one never talks about the act of sex. He suggested it, but its totally unadvisable. There is either chemistry or not, and one can have sex with someone mentally not in masturbating, but in a passing, even fleeting connection, or short conversation. If you connect, and the chemistry is right, great ….but if it isnt..... get out and never talk about it ….as its rude ….and there are plenty of other fish in the sea. His advice seems to be for the ugly and/or rejected of the world …...and they should just know their place. In fact what turns me on about someone is when they know their place and that is that.
Greg Brehrendt looks like an Australian lorry driver and I would not make love to him on the basis that he thinks I would want to make love to him......
